Roll Filter Media

Roll Filter Media

The term non-woven is used to describe fabrics that are neither woven nor knitted. Instead they are formed by a variety of processes that bond fibres into a porous matrix by chemical, mechanical, heat, or solvent treatments. Some non-woven media are produced in a “wet-laid” process similar to paper making. An aqueous suspension of fibre flows onto a screen conveyor belt or perforated drum forming the continuous non-woven web. The types of fibres, their sizes and densities determine the degree of filtration of that particular media.

Commonly used fibres are rayon, polyester and polypropylene or combinations of these. Typical filter media are produced in weights from 0.5 to 2.5 ounces per square yard.

Rolls of nonwoven media are widely used on gravity, vacuum, and pressure filters. Common applications include filtration of metal machining coolants, oil, wastewater and frying oil on filter machines such as Barnes Drill, Cetco, Chemcut, Delpark, Emco, Flowcon, Hoffman, Hydromation, Industrial Deep Bed, Monlan, Oberlin, Polyclon, Schneider, Summit and others.
